Holi is the Indian festival of colors or the festival of sharing the love. It has a rich history in Hindu religion. It is the celebration of beginning of Spring and saying a colorful farewell to Winter. This is most popular Hindu festival in India and is now observed in almost every part of India . Holi celebrations start a night before Holi with a ‘Holika’ bonfire where people gather, sing, dance and party. The next people color each other with dry powdered color or colored water. People carry colored water gun and colored water balloon for their lovely water fight and cheer up by saying ‘Bura na mano, Holi hai! (‘Don’t get offended, it’s Holi!’).’ This is the festival where one can celebrate regardless of cultural norms, race, class and gender– everyone is equal. Holi also gives a wonderful chance to send blessings and love to dear ones wrapped in a special Holi gifts.
